Hand thrown large stoneware bowl 21.5cm. Made in Japan.
This bowl is hard like porcelain but has a coarse texture like terracotta.
The surface texture looks like unglazed Yakishime, but is actually thinly glazed, and shimmers with copper gold hue. Watch video how they reflect the light.

Ohara Koichi is a highly acclaimed and awarded studio potter based in Tokoname, Japan.
Ohara draws his inspiration from the raw textures in the nature. He mixes various local soils and materials to make his clay, glaze and slip, which often contain grit. He studied physics at Meisei University before becoming a ceramic artist.
