A bicycle bell made out of aluminium from discard rice cooker bowl. Reduced from £24 to £18.
Rice cooker is an essential household item in most Asian families. Yet what happens to the parts when the cooker breaks down? Does it end up in the landfill or does get melted down? Alternatively, the material could be upcycled into other interesting products in order to tackle the growing waste issues.
The aluminium of the discarded bowl is flattened and pressed to create a dome shape, which produces a good resonance sound. The bells come in different colours, patterns and coatings, giving each bell a unique pitch sound. Like every bicycle, every rice bell carries a characteristic like no other.
All the rice bowls are collected from Tuen Mun Eco-park and handcrafted by a local metal craftsman in Hong Kong.
Designed and handcrafted by upcycle designer, Kevin Cheung from Hong Kong.
