Description
Four skilled women artisans from the Atlas mountains in Morocco come together to make our cactus silk sabra cushion covers. How they’re made:
1) Harvesting: Women carefully extract fibres from Agave leaves, crushing and soaking them to release the silky threads.
2) Spinning: The extracted fibres are hand-spun to create fine silk threads ensuring each strand is of the highest quality.
3) Dyeing: Natural vegetable dues are used to infuse vibrant colours into the silk threads.
4) Weaving: Using traditional hand-looms, the women intricately weave the dyed silk threads into beautiful patterns, each cushion telling a story of centuries old craftsmanship.
5) Finishing touches: The cushions are left to dry in the sun to achieve their unique colour and a metal zipper is added.
