About Seahorse

Busy handmaking lovely things for you on the Scottish island of Lismore

Set up by designer Nicky Lewis in 2011, Seahorse is very much a family business working alongside sheep farming on our traditional Scottish croft. We design and create lovely things in wood, paper, metal and china all from our base here on the Isle of Lismore, off Scotland's wild and stunning west coast.

We are truly passionate about design, and about making things here in the UK. Working in a stunning but isolated place, jobs are few and far between, and here at Seahorse we are committed to providing local employment whenever we can. Luckily we have managed to recruit a number of talented local craftspeople who work with us in our workshop right by the sea.

More than anything else we love to personalise items for you, to help evoke memories, to tell little stories, or to include thoughtful or secret messages. Anything we can help with? Just let us know.

    "My 2 yr old Granddaughter loves her box which was used for the first time last year. The wood has a lovely grain is smooth and the workmanship is superb and I am fussy and would notice anything not quite right or of inferior quality. The design is so cute, the colours look so pretty and my Granddaughter loves tracing the trail with her finger whilst being told the story and hearing and seeing her name. This box is for her three month old sister. I like to think they will be passed down through the years and treasured. Supporting a local crofting community is an added bonus."

Delivery

All our items are made to order here in our workshop, and time taken to make and dispatch will depend on the item.

All our orders are sent Royal Mail, and delivery times are estimates only unless you order Special Delivery, which is guaranteed within 2 days.

Most orders will arrive within four or five days from dispatch.

As we are based on a small Scottish island, we can occasionally be disrupted by adverse weather impacting on power, telephone and ferry services. Please be patient and we will respond to any enquiries as soon as we are able to.

Stop press: free delivery (2nd class Royal Mail) m is now included on every product in our store.
