Every stitch by hand
Jess Laird is a second-generation leatherworker who works from her small workshop in rural Essex. Her company, Red Bike Leatherworks, makes timeless leather bags and accessories from quality leather, using centuries-old methods. Every step is by hand, from pattern making to cutting to stitching and finishing leathergoods. Techniques and tools were passed down to her and stand the test of time.
The quality of materials are of importance: including hides tanned at the only remaining oak bark tannery in Britain, to brass hardware cast in the UK. More recently, Red Bike Leatherworks has begun repurposing leather from old saddles - giving care, attention and new life to beautiful leather that would otherwise have gone to waste. This old leather tells stories of its own, having developed a rich patina over its life and being all the more interesting for its quirks.
Handcrafted in small numbers, these pieces are built to last and only get better with use.
I offer free UK delivery - either Royal Mail 1st Class or Royal Mail Special Delivery, depending on the value of the shipment.
Please be aware all Red Bike Leatherworks pieces are made to order. Some products take longer to complete than others due to the techniques and processes involved in making them. Dispatch dates are clear on each product page.
