Old Forge Creations is the work of me, Joe Thompson, a graphic designer turned self-taught potter, aided immeasurably by my wife and my border collie.

After graduating with a first class degree in Graphic Design and working for 7 years designing artwork in the print industry, I accidentally discovered the joys of working with clay when my wife and I decided to make our ceramic save-the-date coasters ourselves. After a bit of trial and a lot of error we learnt the basics of clay and glazes, and I was hooked.

My focus is on surface design, shapes, and the beautiful and unrepeatable colours and patterns that form when glazes react to the clay and each other.

Everything in the shop is handmade in my tiny studio in Surrey.
