You can add further personalisation with a message, or names / initials, and a date, within a heart shaped motif. The heart motif can be placed in one corner of the map or at the centre. The print technique I use to make my map artworks gives the finished article a gorgeous timeless look. The maps are printed onto squares of birch plywood, the wood grain shows through the printed image to enhance the beauty of the map. The natural variations of colour and grain add to the character of the handmade nature of the item, making each map a truly unique ‘one off’.
You can choose to have the wood colour left natural as it is, or to be given a light whitewash of paint before printing. The whitewash gives the finished article a brighter appearance as there is more contrast between the background and the map print.
This item is small enough to stand on a shelf or mantlepiece but can also be hung on the wall. It is supplied with a concealed hanger for easy hanging from a picture pin or nail. It can also be framed in a simple white or black wood profile. You may prefer this as it gives the artwork a more contemporary style. Simply select 'Framed' via the options menu when placing your order.
