Original British Detail

Founded in 2014, British Detail captures modern British Design in handmade bespoke pieces all crafted within the UK.

Our vision is simple: There are many talented and skillful craftsmen on our doorstep, and yet we heavily import mass-produced goods on a huge scale... British Detail strives to connect you to these forgotten makers.

We work closely with our makers to understand their crafts, always looking at new ways to apply age-old techniques. In this way, beautiful modern design can be turned into unique, characterful products.

We are constantly searching for new crafts and inspiration. The Kent range is our first, originating from our lead-designer’s family history of potters in his home county. Through experimentation with different types of ceramics, we discovered the natural beauty of stoneware clay. Usually a very dense, heavy material, our skilled potter was able to “throw” remarkably thin shapes on a potters wheel. This meant we have been able to produce modern, fresh designs previously thought impossible in this relatively unknown material.

Each piece is sculptured then carefully assembled by hand. Each a truly unique one off product, a piece of design and art. We pride ourselves on our quality control and authenticity.
