Helen is a ceramic artist based in Brighton. Inspired by the city and the sea, her designs are tactile and functional. Shapes and textures are cast from what were once familiar or commoplace objects, to create surprising new designs.

Her work is about the surface of things, the shapes and textures of everyday things, of displaced objects and their origins.

Helen produces her designs, by hand, in her studio where several moulds are set up. Working in clay is an absorbing process. It is a slow moving material that inspires patience and delicacy to bring it to its final state. The processes Helen uses are slip casting from plaster moulds and hand building with stoneware clay slabs. The glazes are applied by dipping and painting. Some glazes are layered onto others to create unique results.

All pieces are dishwasher, frost and microwave proof but prefer to be washed by hand. For large orders, please contact via the 'ask seller a question' button
